The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 could get an upsize

One of the biggest changes Samsung made to the Galaxy Z Flip 5 was bumping the size of the external display. It went from a paltry 1.9-inches in the Flip 4 to a considerably larger 3.4-inches in the Flip 5. Now the latest rumors are claiming that Samsung could increase the display yet again in the Galaxy Z Flip 6.

This is according to a post by @TheGalox_ on X where they claim that the Galaxy Z Flip 6 could see its cover display increased to 3.9-inches. That’s basically half an inch larger than its predecessor. While it’s easy to get excited about this, it should be taken with a grain of salt.

This is because earlier leaked renders of the Flip 6 revealed that the 3.4-inch cover display will remain. Secondly, handset makers don’t usually refresh their designs in such a major way every year. It costs money to make molds for phones and to create the tooling needed to make them. This is why generally handset designs tend to stay the same or see very minor changes for a couple of years at the very least.

This isn’t to say that this is entirely improbable. Samsung could surprise us all with a larger cover screen for the Flip 6, but don’t get your hopes up. Other rumors we’ve heard about the Galaxy Z Flip 6 include a potential larger battery, along with the use of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset.

Samsung could return to square designs for future smartwatch

When Motorola unveiled their first smartwatch, the Moto 360, it featured a circular design. The idea was that this would imitate more traditional watches which are generally circular in nature. Other companies eventually hopped on board after abandoning the square design, save for Apple. Now it looks like Samsung could be looking to launch a new square smartwatch in the future.

This is according to a report from SamMobile who claims to have heard that Samsung is exploring the possibility of returning to the square form factor. All of Samsung’s current smartwatches feature a circular design. The only exception is the Galaxy Fit 3, which one could argue is more like a fitness tracker.

The report claims that Samsung is apparently very “enthusiastic” about the design. It is unclear when we might see this new form factor, but we doubt that it will debut with the Galaxy Watch 7. It is possible that it could be a separate model from the current Galaxy Watch lineup, just in case there are customers who still prefer the circular look.

There is no right and wrong form factor here, just personal preference. Apple has continued to maintain the square form factor to great success. Samsung Galaxy M15 launched with OLED display

If you’re looking for a budget Android smartphone, Samsung’s Galaxy M series is a good place to start. Last year, the company launched the Galaxy M14, and this year they’re following it up with the brand new Galaxy M15. For the most part, it feels like an iterative upgrade, save for the display.

The Galaxy M14 came with an IPS LCD panel. For the Galaxy M15, Samsung decided to give the display a bigger upgrade and changed it to a 6.5-inch OLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate, with an FHD+ resolution. This is a welcome upgrade as the use of OLED will result in richer looking images.

The 90Hz refresh rate also means that scrolling through websites and documents should feel a lot smoother.

As for the rest of the specs, the Galaxy M15 comes with a MediaTek Dimensity 6100+ chipset. It is accompanied by 4GB of RAM, 128GB of storage that can be expanded via microSD. The phone also packs a triple camera setup. This consists of a 50MP wide angle main shooter, a 5MP ultrawide, and a 2MP macro. There will also be a 13MP selfie cam on the front.

Samsung Might Refresh the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite this Year

Ever since the launch of the original model back in 2020, Samsung has certainly stuck to giving buyers a pretty decent tablet option with the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite. While it’s already gotten a refresh back in 2022 with a newer Snapdragon chipset inside, it looks like Samsung will be offering yet another new version this year.

As reported by the folks over at Winfuture, Samsung is expected to offer a 2024 variant of the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite, with an Exynos 1280 chipset inside. The rest of the tablet’s hardware specs will remain the same, such as its cameras, 10-4-inch screen, and the overall design. The same 4GB of RAM and 64GB expandable memory configuration is also expected, as well as an LTE variant.

Why Samsung chose to go back to using an Exynos chipset is a mystery, as the Snapdragon variant of the Tab S6 Lite provided better performance and power efficiency overall. On one hand, this might be a cost-cutting measure on behalf of Samsung. For context, the Exynos 1280 is the same chip that was used in some of the Galaxy A-series phones a while back.

No launch date has been specified yet, although it’s strongly expected that Samsung might launch the “new” Tab S6 Lite within this year.

No iPhone support for the Samsung Galaxy Ring

The thing with Bluetooth devices is that they’re supposed to be platform agnostic. Basically, as long as your smartphone has Bluetooth, in theory it should work with any Bluetooth device. Of course, that isn’t always the case, and unfortunately for iPhone users, it looks like Samsung has decided to not add iPhone support for the Galaxy Ring.

According to a report from CNET, Samsung VP Hon Pak confirmed that the Galaxy Ring will not support iPhones. Pak was quoted as saying, “We recognize the iOS/Android challenge, and we ultimately hope that our devices are of such caliber that people will be willing to switch.” We honestly doubt any accessory is worth switching platforms for. But hey, Samsung can hope.

Samsung says that they are working to ensure compatibility with other Android devices. So that’s something Android users won’t have to worry about for now.

To be fair, ever since Samsung made the switch over to Wear OS, its smartwatches have not had iPhone support. Previously, when Samsung used Tizen in its older smartwatches, there was iPhone compatibility. Apple themselves are also guilty of exclusion. The majority of their accessories like the AirPods and Apple Watch are more or less iOS/macOS exclusive, so it’s not surprising that Samsung is extending Apple the same “courtesy”.

Worrying rumor suggests Samsung Galaxy S25 might be Exynos only

Samsung’s Exynos chipsets are basically Samsung’s answer to Apple’s A-series of chipsets, where the company is trying to make its own chipsets instead of relying on outsiders. Unfortunately, Samsung’s Exynos chipsets have largely failed to impress. This is why we’re kind of worried about the Samsung Galaxy S25, if the rumors are true.

According to a post on X by @OreXda, they claim that in 2025, the Samsung Galaxy S25 could be Exynos only. The tipster does clarify that this is just a rumor that they have heard and it did not come from their usual source, so take it with a grain of salt for now. If it is true, that’s kind of disappointing unless Samsung has a new Exynos chipset that can blow Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 out of the water.

So currently 2025 Samsung phones will be :

There are several reasons why people in general dislike the Exynos chipsets. They offer worse thermals, power efficiency, and are found to be slightly slower compared to Qualcomm’s offerings. Not to mention the fact that customers don’t get to choose which chipset they want. This means that some customers in some regions are essentially paying the same price for “worse” performance.

Earlier this year, Qualcomm announced that they have extended their deal with Samsung. But as the rumor claims, the Galaxy Z foldable series will be Snapdragon only. This means that in theory, Samsung and Qualcomm’s partnership will continue but maybe not for its Galaxy S flagship phones. Since nothing has been confirmed yet, we’ll just have to wait and see.
